Recession to resurgence summit

The third summit took place on 26 June 2009 and focused on the economic downturn and how it will impact the people of Birmingham.

The groundbreaking event featured five syndicate sessions: responding to the recession, the new economy, the growth agenda, impact on society and making a contribution.

Rt Hon Liam Byrne, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, MP for Hodge Hill commented at the summit: “It was a great privilege to speak to the Be Birmingham summit today and to share our commitment to make the lives of people in Birmingham better.”

The summit also included other high profile speakers to help realise this ambition, additional summit speakers included Professor Julia King CBE, vice chancellor of Aston University and member of the Committee on Climate Change; CEO of Cogent Elliott, Tim Pile and Mike Murray who continues to work on the Longbridge regeneration project.
